Everett Tony and Christine Diamond Anniversary Many congratulations and much love from all the family on reaching this impressive milestone, truly a match made in heaven! Tony and Chris were married on 14th April 1956 in Birmingham. They first met when they found they were both standing for the post of branch treasurer of the Young Conservatives, one of them was successful but in reality both were winners! They announced their engagement in August 1955 and shortly afterwards Tony moved from Birmingham to his home city of Bristol and took up the post of childrens wear buyer in Wilkinson and Riddell. Chris soon joined him and they set up home in Westbury on Trym. They were blessed with four children, Corinne (1957), Michael (1958), David (1961) and Martin (1965). They have been further blessed with ten grandchildren; Fred, Jonah, Alfie and Bertie, Henry, Matilda, Josie and Jonny, Prentice and Aidan. Tony and Chris have both contributed to public life in Bristol. In 1963 they both joined the Liberals; Tony became party chairman for the Bristol North West Liberals and Chris was elected secretary. Chris went on to stand in the local elections as Liberal candidate, twice in Southmead and nine times in Westbury on Trym. Outside politics Tony joined the Bristol Junior Chamber of Commerce and in 1968 also founded the Bristol 39 Club which caters for all ex-members of the Junior Chamber and which will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary! Chris was an active member of the British Red Cross for over 25 years and for 10 of those was assistant treasurer at their headquarters in Alma Road, Clifton. Tony and Chris are now members of the Bristol Commonwealth Society of which Tony is treasurer. Despite this very full schedule Tony and Chris have been loving parents and grandparents and we all have very fond memories of good times spent on family holidays and those special parties at Stoke Grove and Benville Ave! Their home in Portishead is the venue for the next special party so get ready to pop those corks! Corinne, Michael, David and Martin
